Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the group for?
Side By Side is a community of women who share the common bond of being married to doctors, dentists, and those still in medical or dental training. Side By Side welcomes ALL medical and dental wives, regardless of religious background or denomination, and ministers to women through Bible study, friendship, and prayer.
Where and when do you meet?
We have three groups here in Pittsburgh. Our North Hills morning group meets in the home of one of our members in the North Hills area roughly every other Monday from 9-11:30am. Our City East morning group meets every Friday from 9:30-11:30am at River City Church. Our City East evening group meets every other Monday evening from 7-9pm. Please see our Meetings page for more detailed information!
Do you meet year-round?
All three groups meet on a "school schedule" from Labor Day through mid-May, taking breaks over major holidays.
Are there any other events other than your morning & evening Bible Studies?
There are often play dates at local parks and at other venues throughout the year as well as the occasional "Ladies Night Out" and family get-togethers. These events will be posted on our Facebook page.
Do you have dues? Do you charge for childcare?
All three groups collect a modest dues fee from each member at the beginning of each semester (usually September & January).
The books we study are also your own responsibility (typically around $10 per semester). Childcare costs are covered both by dues and donations from women who are no longer in training. We have excellent, adult-women childcare workers. Scholarships are available.
We do not want finances to limit your participation!
I have an infant who is too small to go in with the other children. Can s/he stay with me during the Bible Study?
Of course...and we will probably offer to hold your little one for you!
I'm not sure I can make it to every meeting. Is that a problem?
Not at all! While we love to have regular attendance, we completely understand that balancing schedules can be hectic.
Come as often as you can, and we'll be happy to see you!
